Introducing screen mode — show the game on a big screen

Photo Werewolf now has screen mode 🎉

It shows the game on a big screen. Open the URL in a browser on a PC, send it to a projector or into a Zoom or Discord screen share, and everyone in the room watches the same photos.

The whole game on one screen

The theme, the photos everyone submitted, the time left, the phase you are in. What used to be spread across everyone’s phones now fits on a single screen.

Anything private stays on your own phone: your role, and the screen where you pick your photo. Neither reaches the big screen, so you can put screen mode straight into a screen share or a live stream. It works well for game streams and events.

How to use it

Tap Show on a screen in the lobby

It sits under the host’s screen while you are waiting for players.

Share the URL and send it to your PC

Chat, email, whatever you use.

Open it in a browser and go fullscreen

Use the button in the corner or press F.

What is shown follows the game

A stepper runs along the top: Lobby, Theme, Photos, Roles, Discuss, Vote, Result. Anyone who walks in halfway through can see where you are and what is left.

PhaseWhat is shown
LobbyPlayers and open slots, join QR (hidden at first)
ThemeA note that the theme is being chosen
PhotosThe theme, and who has submitted
RolesA note telling people to check their phones
DiscussEveryone’s photos and the time left
VoteEveryone’s photos, and who has finished voting
ResultThe outcome, with everyone’s role and vote

From discussion to the result

During discussion, everyone’s photos and the time left are on screen. They are big enough to compare down to the details.

The photos stay up during voting. You can also see who has finished, so it is obvious who everyone is waiting on.

Voting: the same photos, plus who has finished voting

The result lays out the outcome with everyone’s role and who they voted for. This is the point where roles reach the big screen.

What never appears on the big screen

  • Roles, until the result
  • The screen where you pick your photo
  • The village password
  • Account name, stamina and plan
  • Who voted for whom, until the result

The memory image appears when the game ends

When the game ends, that round’s memory image is shown large. Saving and sharing still happen on a phone, as before.

The QR beside it points at the public site, not at your village. Anyone who was watching can scan it and start a village of their own.

Give it a try

Screen mode is available on every plan. Nothing to buy, nothing to install.

A projector at a venue, a laptop wired to a TV, a Zoom or Discord screen share — it works the same in all of them. Start from Show on a screen in the lobby.
